Year 5 have visited Escot to learn about the Saxons. We learnt about Saxon money and minted our own coin, shouting “THOR!” as we struck the coin. We also made a brooch in the Saxon forge using authentic tools and copper and ground corn to make flour and baked bread rolls in the Saxon fire oven.
We also went on a foraging walk where we learned about different plants the Saxons would have used for medicine and healing. While we were there, we were also able to see their wolf pack and some of us dared the huge drop slide too.
Escot is a brilliant place! We had lots of fun!
