GPS starter:

Complete the questions below. You do not need to copy out the question, just the answer.

English task:

LO: I can use conjunctions to add more detail to my sentences.

There are two types of conjunctions.

  • A co-coordinating conjunction (and, or, but) joins two simple sentences, that are as important to each other, together.
  • A sub-ordinating conjunction (because, if, when, that) is used when the second part of the sentences isn’t as important as the first bit.

1. Read the powerpoint below and answer the questions on each slide by choosing the most suitable conjunction to join the two sentences.

2. Complete the questions on the word document and have a go at the challenge!

Maths:

We would like you to have a go at the money assessment sheet for the unit.

Please have a go at this sheet independently.

Once you have completed the assessment, ask an adult to mark it and then go through any questions you got wrong.

Please email your class teacher teacher on the class email address with your scores.

Good luck.

Topic:

Science Investigation: Which objects will float and which will sink?

LO: I can say if a material will float or sink

Collect the following materials:

pencil, sponge, rubber, cork, ball, apple, paper clip, stone, fork, elastic band.

Firstly, make a prediction (guess) and say which objects will float and which will sink.

Use a tick or a cross on the table to make your prediction.

Next, fill a container with water, then collect the objects and place each one on the surface of the water, one at a time to find out if they float or sink.

Once the table is completed look at your results and answer the following questions.

  • What do you notice?
  • Which materials floated? Why?
  • Which materials sank>? Why?

Complete the ‘I found out’ sentence and say what you found out.
