Our school was invited to participate in the inaugural swimming gala at Taunton School on Friday 10^th May along with Danesfield, Nether Stowey, Thurlbear and Hambridge primary schools. The pupils swam a total of fifteen races which were either individual, medley or relays which meant that there was little respite for the squad. A fantastic first half of competitive races saw Parkfield hold a slender points advantage over their competitors and buoyed by this the squad further demonstrated their school values by maintaining a high level of enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout.

Having completed the races all pupils were rewarded by a free swim session (complete with floats) to round off what was a superb afternoon courtesy of Taunton School. Following a refreshment break the schools were keen to discover who had won the event as all teams had ensured that the races were competitive due to a high degree of ability. It appeared that the winners were only determined after the final event and they were… Parkfield Primary School! The squad were duly awarded their medals and a lovely shield by Chris Coleman (Deputy Headmaster of Taunton Preparatory School).
