Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA)

Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA)

What is the Rights Respecting School Award?

The UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) supports schools across the UK to embed children’s human rights in their ethos and culture. The award recognises achievement in putting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of a school’s practice to improve well-being and help all children realise their potential.

The award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation.

RRSA at Parkfield

Becoming a Rights Respecting School has involved the children learning about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.  The children have learnt about their rights and about the importance of respecting the rights of others.

The children learn about their rights through assemblies and the curriculum.  They also take part in termly themes such as Respect. You can find out what the children have been discussing in the School Council meetings by following the link in the School Newsletter.

Silver Accreditation

On 11th November 2020 we were delighted to achieve the RRSA Level -  Silver Award.

We are currently working towards our Gold Accreditation which we hope to achieve in the Autumn term 2023.
