Phonics

If you usually do phonics with Mrs Wright and you are confident with the alternative 'er' spellings then please look at the phase 6 work at the bottom of the page. Phase 6 focuses on spelling patterns, prefixes, suffixes, plurals, compound words and past/present tense. We will include a selection of different phase 6 activities each week.

Phonics - Main focus

This week we want you to look at different ways to spell the 'er' sound and the alternative spellings for this.

The main spellings for this sound are 'er', 'ir', and ‘ur'.

However, there is also ‘ar’ (sugar), ‘ear’ (earth) and ‘or’ (word).

There are many games and activities to try for free on Phonicsplay.
