Today we would like to consolidate everything we have learned over the last couple of weeks in our money unit.

Task: Create a shop at home.

Find some objects in your house that you can label up with price tags and sell in a shop. 

1. We would like you to first of all play the role of a customer.
   1. Go to your shop and practise buying several items.

   2. Can you work out how much your items will cost altogether?

   3. Can you select coins to pay for the items?

2. We would like you to take the role of a shop keeper.
   1. When your customers buy things can you work out the change?

Topic:

Science Investigation: Which objects will change shape if we stretch, twist, bend or squash them?

Collect the following materials:

• a lump of blutack or playdoh
• elastic band
• pencil
• rubber
• spoon
• paper clip

Then complete the sheet below. On the sheet, firstly, make a prediction (guess) and say which material (s) you can squash, bend, twist and stretch.

Now test each material to see if you can squash, bend, twist and stretch them.

Use the table provided to record your results (put a tick or cross in each box)

Once the table is completed look at your results and answer the following questions.

• What do you notice?
• Can you squash, bend, twist and stretch any of the materials? Why?
• Why can’t you squash, bend, twist and stretch some of the materials?
• Complete the observation sentence and say what you found out.
