School Meals, Snacks and Milk

School Meals

From 1st September 2026 we are pleased to announce that our hot school meals will be provided by Aspens Services.  They are a market-leading contract catering company specialising in school food. They only work in the education sector, so they know what their customers want.  Mixing this knowledge with an understanding of what's hot in the food world sparks creativity and excitement in their chefs.  Their kitchens provide delicious home-cooked food each day and cater for individual dietary requirements. The food is freshly prepared in our kitchen on site each day and the meals are nutritionally balanced and prepared in accordance with the School Food Plan.  Please click on the link for further information: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-school-food-plan

Fresh Thinking – Healthy Eating – Meaningful Mealtimes

Aspens take their responsibility of catering for today's children seriously.  Their dishes are prepared using high-quality, seasonal ingredients that are responsibly sourced.  Their trusted suppliers and traceable supply chain ensures the province of all produce.  They believe school meal times are the best time of the day and a chance for children to eat nutritious and delicious food, learn and create good school food memories.

Our Planet

Aspens work closely with their clients and suppliers to be as environmentally friendly as they can.  By making lots of small changes, they can make a big difference.  They care about the future and continue to focus on plant-based recipes, making their menus more sustainable, keeping waste to a minimum and reusing and recycling to reduce the impact they have.

Menu

The school menu rotates on a three-week basis and refreshes for the Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer seasons.

All children need a nutritious, balanced meal to grow and meet their full potential and all school meals need to be compliant with the School Food Standards.  These were created to help children develop healthy eating habits and ensure that they get the energy and nutrition they need throughout the whole school day.  Therefore, parents should be able to trust that the school's menu has been developed based on scientific nutrition research.

Booking Meals

All meals are booked online via School Money.  Parents will be given a login to the system when their child is on roll at the school.

Special Diets – Food Allergies

Aspens is a proud Corporate Partner of The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation.  It is the only UK-based charity that funds medical research into the causes and prevention of food allergies.  The mission of the charity is to make allergy history – starting with food allergies.

Special diets are an integral part of Aspens catering provision, whether as a result of an ethical or religious belief or a food intolerance or allergy.  To register any special diets as a requirement, please complete and return the special diet form to the school as soon as possible.

Break Time Snacks

Fruit may be brought into school for a mid-morning snack. Parkfield Primary takes part in the National Fruit Scheme. All Key Stage 1 children reception, years 1 and 2 are provided with a free piece of fruit each day.

Milk

Fresh milk is available for children aged 4 free of charge. Chargeable fresh milk is also available for children aged 5 and over via the Cool Milk Scheme.
