Phonics - Phase 3 Letters and Sounds

 

Objective: To practise reading, writing and applying the Phase 3 sounds learnt so far.

  • Please look at Phase 3 games. 
  • Please choose the Phase 3 sound that you have just learnt when loading a game.
  • Also please practise Phase 3 High Frequency Words by playing 'Tricky Trucks'. 
  • As an extension have a go at writing some of the sounds, words and sentences that you have read from the games.

 

Phonics extension

 

- We are practising reading words in sentences.

- Practise GPC ss,a,t,p,i,n,m,d,g,o,c,k,ck,e,u,r,h,b,f,f,l,ll,ss,j,v,w,x,y,z,qu,sh,ch,th,ng,ai,ee,igh,oa, oo, ar, or, ur, oi, ear, air, ure 

- Look at an alphabet chart and practise the names of letters.

- Play sentence substitution - change one word in the sentence at a time:

Mark fed the cat – dog – hid – Gail – moon.
The sheep are in the shed – bedroom – farmyard – cars – wait.

 

e.g. Mark fed the cat.

Mark fed the dog.

Mark hid the dog.

Gail hid the dog.

Gail hid the moon.

 

The sheep are in the shed.

The sheep are in the bedroom.

The sheep are in the farmyard.

The cars are in the farmyard.

The cars wait in the farmyard.

Literacy - Recount

 

Objective: To role play a recycled recount

Objective: Build a boat that floats

 

In today's lesson, we will construct a boat and then test it in some water to see if it floats. The key areas that this lesson links to are expressive arts and design and understanding the world. You will need a bowl of water and some paper.
