Phonics - Phase 3 Letters and Sounds

 

Objective: To learn to read, write and apply the sound 'y'.

  • Please look at Phase 3 games. 
  • Please choose the Phase 3 sound that you have just learnt when loading a game.
  • Also please practise Phase 3 High Frequency Words by playing 'Tricky Trucks'. 
  • As an extension have a go at writing some of the sounds, words and sentences that you have read from the games.

 

Phonics extension

- Practise GPCs s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, f, l, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, sh, ch, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, ou, oo, ar, or

- Sing the alphabet song – all children point to letters as you sing.

- Introduce spelling two-syllable words.

- Write the words: chicken, jacket, velvet, wicked, zigzag, liquid, tonight, boatman, rooftop, market, farmyard.

- Write captions: This is my jeep. This rocket can go to the moon. This boat can zoom. This cart can go to the park. The car is on the road. The boat has got a sail.

Literacy - Goldilocks and the Three Bears

 

Objective: To write sentences describing settings in the story

 

In this lesson children will write sentences describing each of the settings in the story.

Mathematics - Addition and subtraction within 10

 

Objective: Using manipulatives to count on when adding

 

In this lesson, we will be using countable objects and ten frames to count on to ten.

Understanding the World - Winter: Hot/Cold

 

Objective: To name things that you can see outside in winter

 

In this lesson, we join Mrs Garrard to identify things that we can see outside in winter. We will think about the colours of the season and create a drawing of things that we can see on a winter walk. You could extend this lesson by comparing seasons, the things you might see outside and the colours you might use to represent each season. You will need warm clothes, paper, colouring pencils, glitter and glue.
