Maths:

Today we would like you to do Lesson 6 of our unit 'Multiplication and Division'.

  1. Go to https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/
  2. Select 'Summer Term - Week 1 - Lesson 2 'Make Equal Groups (Grouping)' and watch the 3 minute video.
  3. Then complete the worksheet below. You do not need to print this. You can just write your answers in your home learning book e.g. where it tells you to tick the answer you would just write the object that you would have ticked.
  4. Then have a go at the reasoning and problem solving question.

Challenge:

Fancy a challenge...take a look at the challenge question on the 'Reasoning and Problem Solving and Challenge' document

Science:

Yesterday we sorted animals into groups (mammals, reptiles etc).

Today we are going to sort animals according to their features (legs, scales etc).

Draw a table in your book with 2 columns like the below table.

Animals with 4 legs Animals without 4 legs

We will start by sorting animals according to the amount of legs they have.

Look at the ‘animal picture cards’ attached and draw or write the animals into the correct category. Here is an example below:

Animals with 4 legs

Animals without 4 legs

Elephant

Snake

Cat

Goldfish

Crocodile

Duck

Now think of a different category to sort by. Could you challenge yourself by having 3 different groups? (E.g. feathers, scales, fur).

Challenge:

We can also sort animals using a venn diagram. Research what this is and have a go at sorting the animals again.
