Today’s work is all about using similes and metaphors. Read the information on page 5 and 6 to get a better understanding of what a simile is and have fun making up some similes of your own.  Choose an animal that you like and describe it using invented and silly similes. You could describe your animal’s eyes, ears, tail, paws, claws and teeth. One poem you write will be a silly poem and one will be a sensible poem where the similes work and make sense.

Next up is metaphors! Metaphors also describe things but is a bit stronger than a simile. It is when you say that one thing is another thing. Read the information on page 7, 8 and 9 for more information. There are some sentences to fill in on page 10. Have a go at these and you can have a go at writing your own metaphor poem if you would like to.

Watch the White Rose video for today's lesson then complete the activities, either on the sheet, if you are able to print, or record your answers in your workbook.

Don’t forget you can choose an activity to complete from the Topic Web.

We hope you are having a lovely summer holiday break.
