Phonics - Phase 3 Letters and Sounds


Objective: To learn to read, write and apply the sound 'th'.

  • Please look at Phase 3 games. 
  • Please choose the Phase 3 sound that you have just learnt when loading a game.
  • Also please practise Phase 3 High Frequency Words by playing 'Tricky Trucks'. 
  • As an extension have a go at writing some of the sounds, words and sentences that you have read from the games.


Phonics extension

- We are learning a new phoneme ear and how to read and write it.

- Practise GPC ss,a,t,p,i,n,m,d,g,o,c,k,ck,e,u,r,h,b,f,f,l,ll,ss,j,v,w,x,y,z,qu,sh,ch,th,ng,ai,ee,igh,oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi 

- Look at an alphabet chart and practise the names of letters.

- Read and write the new phoneme ear with actions.
- Read and write words: ear, dear, fear, hear, gear, near, tear, year, rear, beard.

- Read and write the captions: 

Did the shark feel fear?

Can a toad hear?

Is the church near the park or the farmyard?

Literacy - Recount


Objective: To step and speak a recount


In this lesson children will add actions and, using their map, will retell the recount from memory.

Understanding the World - Under the Sea


Objective: Build a cave


In today's lesson, we will combine different media in order to create a representation of an underwater cave. The three key areas of development that this lesson links to are expressive arts and design, physical development and understanding the world.

You will need shoe box/cereal box/egg box, stones/shells, tissue paper, pipe cleaners, paint, paper, scissors and glue/tape or similar items.
