Phonics - Phase 3 Letters and Sounds

 

Objective: To learn to read, write and apply the sound 'z, zz'.

  • Please look at Phase 3 games. 
  • Please choose the Phase 3 sound that you have just learnt when loading a game.
  • Also please practise Phase 3 High Frequency Words by playing 'Tricky Trucks'. 
  • As an extension have a go at writing some of the sounds, words and sentences that you have read from the games.

 

Phonics extension

- We are learning a new phoneme ur and how to read and write it.

- Practise GPCs s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, f, l, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, sh, ch, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or

- Look at an alphabet chart and practise the names of letters that your child were finding tricky.

- Write the new phoneme 'ur'.

- Read and write the words: fur, burn, burp, curl, hurt, surf, turn, turnip.

- Read and write the captions:

If I burn my leg, it will hurt.

I can surf or sail a boat.

My dog has fur on his tail.

Literacy - Goldilocks and the Three Bears

 

Objective: To box up a recycled story

 

In this lesson children will recycle the story and box it up.

Mathematics - Addition and subtraction within 10

 

Objective: Adding two numbers using a number track to count on

 

In this lesson, we will be using a number track to support counting on to ten.

Understanding the World - Polar Habitat

 

Objective: To name animals that live in polar habitats

 

In today's lesson, we join Miss Sidenius in identifying different animals that live in polar habitats. We think about the weather in polar habitats and how the animals are able to live in such cold conditions. We end the lesson by creating a polar painting using only our fingertips as paint brushes! You will need paper and paint.
