Tasks for Monday 23rd March

English

Today’s focus is on punctuation. Please rewrite the five sentences below adding in the punctuation of capital letters and full stops.

Remember the following:

  • Capital letters: are used for the start of sentences and for proper nouns (i.e names of people and places)
  • Full stops: are used to show a sentence has ended

 

  1. the green giant is as tall as an ancient oak tree
  2. the grey castle is surrounded by a deep moat
  3. in the moat is a fish as large as the loch ness monster
  4. all of a sudden a boy called jack appeared and grabbed the hen
  5. the giant chased jack down the road and followed him down the beanstalk

Challenge: Can you write your own three sentences using the correct punctuation.

Maths:

Today’s focus is to continue to look at finding 1 more/less than numbers to 100.

 

Task 1: Please copy out the below sentences and fill in the gaps.

  1. One more than 29 is ______
  2. 43 is one more than ______
  3. ______ is one more than 30
  4. One more than _____ is 35
  5. One less than _____ is 23
  6. ______ is one less than 40
  7. 46 is one less than ____
  8. One less than 28 is ____

If you are stuck draw the number using dienes and then add or subtract one i.e.

 

Task 2: Try the Reasoning and Problem solving questions in the word document below

History:

Look at the Powerpoint about Life in the 17th Century.

Then in your Home Learning book create a table with 2 columns (1666 and 2020)

Then draw pictures in each column for equipment that fire fighters used in 1666 and now.

Look at the word document for some ideas.
