Task:

Our unit this week is called 'Superheroes'.

1. Please read the story below called Superheroes.

  • The story says that ordinary people can be superheroes every bit as much as people like Batman or Superman.
  • Do you know any everyday superheroes?
  • What makes them a hero?  (You might like to think of some of the people who have been carrying on their jobs while most of us stay safe at home – NHS workers, Postal workers, Shop workers and so on.)

2. Think about the famous superheroes. We would like you to pick your favourite superhero and draw it in your home learning book. Look at Superhero Suggestions pdf for ideas.

Under your drawing we would like you to write the superhero's name. Remember to begin the name with a capital letter.

3. Finally, think of two things you really like about the superhero you have chosen.

Underneath your picture write a sentence expressing your thoughts.

  • Use the word and to join your two ideas. Batman is really brave and I like his cool utility belt.  You could try using ‘but’….
  • Use clear word spaces in your sentence.
  • Don’t forget your capital letter and full stop.

Maths:

This week we will be revisiting and recapping addition and subtraction from the beginning of the year. This is to keep the skills fresh in our mind.

Today we would like you to:

  • Go to https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/
  • Select 'Summer Term - Week 3- Lesson 1 'Part whole relationships numberbonds' and watch the short video.
  • Then complete the worksheet below. You do not need to print this. You can just write your answers in your home learning book. eg. where it tells you to tick the answer you would just write the object that you would have ticked.

D&T

As we have been learning about animals, we thought it would be a good idea to create something that brings animals to your garden/house.

Task:

This week we would like you to make a bird feeder. Below are some ideas of how you could do this, however feel free to adapt these or design your own. If you don’t have all the resources don’t worry! There are loads of different things you can use to make a bird feeder. Just make sure what you use is safe!

Once you have put up the bird feeder start watching the birds outside. Have you seen any you don’t know?

Can you find out what they are?

Look at the PowerPoint below to learn more about different British birds.

We have also included a bird scavenger hunt for the keen bird watchers!
