Tasks for Monday 27th April

English:

 

Quick Task 1: Go on Phonics Play (The link is in the 'Useful web-based resources' section on the Year 1 Home learning page).

Select the 'Dragons Den' Game. Please go to Phase 5 and play with the 'a_e' sound as in 'make a cake'.

If you would like to practice the 'a_e' sound more play 'Buried Treasure' and 'Picnic on Pluto'.

 

Quick Task 2: You need to stay on phonics play but log in to the subscription area.

Go to Teachers, then select interactive resources and select Phase 5. Then please select 'Tricky Word Trucks' and please practice Phase 5a Tricky words.
 

Task 3: 

Please continue working through the tasks for the two week project on 'Sidney Spider'.

Maths:

Today we would like you to do Lesson 6 of our unit 'Mass and Capacity'.

 

  1. Go to https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/
  2. Select Week 2 - Lesson 1 'Compare Capacity' and watch the 3 minute video.
  3. Then complete the worksheet below. You do not need to print this. You can just write your answers in your home learning book e.g. where it tells you to tick the answer you would just write the object that you would have ticked
  4. Finally have a go at the reasoning and problem solving questions.

 

Challenge: Have a go at the challenge problem 'Thirsty'

The aim of the challenge is to use the 10 clue cards in the 'Thirst clues' pdf below to work out the order of the 8 picture cards in the 'Thirsty picture cards' pdf. The picture cards show a selection of cups filled with orange or blackcurrant juice. Good lucksmiley

History – Castles quiz

We have already learned about castles in School. Today we want to quiz you and see what you can remember. Please answer the following questions in your home learning book:

  1. What jobs did people who worked in the castles do?
  2. Can you draw and label a castle?
  3. What did the gong farmers do?
  4. What did the servants do?
  5. What are castles made out of?

 

Challenge:

Can you try and make a drawbridge using different materials in your house?
