Phonics - Phase 3 Letters and Sounds


Objective: To practise reading, writing and applying the sounds 'sh, ch, th, ng'.

  • Please look at Phase 3 games. 
  • Please choose the Phase 3 sound that you have just learnt when loading a game.
  • Also please practise Phase 3 High Frequency Words by playing 'Tricky Trucks'. 
  • As an extension have a go at writing some of the sounds, words and sentences that you have read from the games.

- Sing the alphabet song – point to letters as you sing

- Read the tricky word: they

- Read and write the words: fear, hear, beard, fair, hair, pair, near, year, chair.

- Read and write the captions: 

They zoom near to the moon.

Did they get to the dark lair?

They can sit in the rocking chair.

Literacy - Recount


Objective: To use role play to deepen understanding

Understanding the World - Float and Sink


Objective: Float/sink experiment


In today's lesson, we will be scientists and explore whether items we find around our house float or sink and sort them into two piles, depending on whether they float or sink. The three key areas that this lesson links to are understanding the world, communication and language and maths. You will need a bowl of water, objects, paper and a teddy for this lesson.
