Phonics - Phase 3 Letters and Sounds

 

Objective: To learn to read, write and apply the sound 'ch'.

  • Please look at Phase 3 games. 
  • Please choose the Phase 3 sound that you have just learnt when loading a game.
  • Also please practise Phase 3 High Frequency Words by playing 'Tricky Trucks'. 
  • As an extension have a go at writing some of the sounds, words and sentences that you have read from the games.

 

Phonics extension

- We are learning to read the tricky word: you.

- Practise GPCs s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, f, l, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, sh, ch, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow

- Sing the alphabet song – point to letters as you sing.

- Practise reading and writing the tricky word: you

- Read and write the words: fur, burn, burp, surf, turnip, down, town, owl, now, how.

- Read and write the questions: Is it cool for you to burp? How can you see an owl at night? Will a cow go to town with you?

Literacy - Recount

 

Objective: To listen and join in with a recount

 

In this lesson children will hear a recount, from the point of view of baby bear and will begin to join in with it.

Mathematics - Addition and subtraction within 10

 

Objective: Understanding the concept of subtraction as take away (Part 2)

 

In this lesson, we will continue to explore the concept of subtraction as take away through telling 'first, then and now' stories.

Understanding the World - Under the Sea

 

Objective: To identify different creatures that live under the sea

 

In this set of lessons we learn about the creatures that lurk deep beneath the sea. In this lesson with Miss Hughes, we identify some of those creatures and the features that allow them to survive in an underwater habitat. At the end of the lesson, we capture the ocean in our very own sensory bottles. You will need a transparent bottle, oil, water, food colouring and glitter.
