Today we are continuing to learn about TRANSLATION of shapes. Yesterday we learnt that this was where a shape was moved, usually on a grid, to a new position. It is important to remember that the size, shape and orientation of the shape does not change - only its position. Movements are usually made with the instructions left, right, up and down. For example left 3, down 4 would mean the new position would be 3 squares left and 4 squares down from the original shape. Most of the questions on the WR sheet today will require you to describe the movement that has occurred - you might be asked to give the number of squares or the direction the point has moved to.
Again, we do not have a White Rose video for today's lesson so I have linked you to a video by the BBC which will remind you about coordinates and then talk you through the process. Once you have watched the video, complete the WR maths tasks followed by the EXS or GDS problem solving questions.
