LO: To revise simple, compound and complex sentences.

In this lesson we will revise the components of simple, compound and complex sentences. We will identify examples of each type and write our own.

TASKS:

- Write a definition for each of the four word classes on the screen - nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs.

- Write down what you think is the difference between a phrase and a clause.

- Write a definition of a simple sentence. Write a simple sentence to show your understanding.

- Write a definition of a compound sentence. Write a compound sentence to show your understanding.

- Write a definition of a complex sentence. Write a complex sentence to show your understanding.

- Finally, write an example of each sentence you've revised today. Label or colour each type of clause and underline the conjunctions. Look at the example to help.
