Our theme for this week is 'Focus On Faces' and we will be completing a series of exciting activities all based on faces. On Thursday, once the week's activities have been completed you will be asked to select your favourite poem that you have written. Send your favourite poem to us at the Woodpecker email address and we will enter it into a competition for you. Good luck everybody!
TASK 1: So today, let's being with some 'Face Fun'. Sit opposite somebody in your household, e.g. Dad or your sister, and pull different expressions at each other. Think carefully about what expression they are showing on their face.
TASK 2: Once you have enjoyed exploring different expressions, write a poem about how it makes you feel seeing a loved one smiling at you.
Using the different facial expressions in the pictures above, write a poem called 'The Many Faces of Me' or 'The Many Moods of Me'.
Remember, there are many different types of poems you could write – Haiku; Limerick; Cinquain; Sonnet; Tanka; Acrostic. Each poem may have a different amount of lines, different kinds of rhymes and different amounts of syllables.
I have attached some PowerPoints and some information below about the different types of poems you might want to use. Have a look through them if you need more ideas.
